Cory Stewart Unveils Deeply Personal New Single and Video: The Sun Will Never ComeToronto, ON — April 2, 2025 — Toronto-based pop artist Cory Stewart returns with The Sun Will Never Come, a haunting, synth-laced ballad that explores isolation, self-doubt, and the delicate hope of becoming who you’re meant to be. With its confessional lyrics and evocative hook, the single marks a standout moment in Stewart’s evolution as both songwriter and storyteller.Originally penned in his twenties, Stewart revisited the song years later with JUNO-nominated producer Gavin Bradley (Nelly Furtado, Tori Amos), who helped bring emotional polish and sonic depth to the final track. “It’s about the masks we wear,” says Stewart. “The pressure to conform, to perform, to pretend you’re okay when you feel completely alone. I wrote it in a moment of emotional truth, and it still holds that meaning for me today.” |
A Cinematic Video, Filmed on a Grey Florida Day The video—self-shot, directed, and edited by Stewart—was filmed in St. Augustine, Florida on the final day of a 2025 winter trip. Stewart waited for an overcast day to match the song’s grey-toned mood. “I wanted the weather to reflect the lyrics. That heaviness in the clouds felt perfect,” he explains. “But by the end of filming, a crowd had gathered. It made it harder to stay in that vulnerable headspace. Still, I think that tension worked its way into the video in a really honest way.” An Artist with Depth and Drive Known for his smooth vocals and fearlessly catchy songwriting, Cory Stewart has made his mark as one of Canada’s most compelling LGBTQ2+ pop artists. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music’s vocal program, Stewart began performing at age seven and has since toured across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. His debut album TOV landed at #9 on the iTunes Pop Chart and cemented his status as a rising voice in the independent music scene. He’s shared the stage with icons like Boy George and Crystal Waters, and his work has earned accolades from outlets including the Toronto Guardian and international platforms such as the Wavy Awards, where he was honoured for his impact during the QUEERANTINE North American tour.Following the success of 2024’s dance-pop single One More Day With You, The Sun Will Never Come offers a more introspective, stripped-back experience—proof of Stewart’s creative versatility and emotional range.
