The genesis of “The Reason” began with a single tweet. Stewart reached out to his followers in 2021, asking if anyone would be interested in writing a ballad together. That call was answered by Kele Fleming, sparking a creative collaboration that would evolve over three years. “The Reason started as an idea shared online,” Stewart shares. “I wanted to challenge myself to write something even more vulnerable and raw, and Kele was the perfect collaborator. Together, we created a song that feels deeply personal but also universal.”
The song’s lyrics paint a vivid picture of vulnerability and transformation. Lines like “Letting you go is part of finding me” and “You’re a puzzle I’ve been working, scattered pieces of my heart” evoke the bittersweet journey of releasing the past to embrace a brighter future. The heartfelt piano-driven arrangement is complemented by Bradley’s signature “warm” jazz influence and intricate production style, which merges acoustic and electronic elements seamlessly.
Accompanying the single is a striking music video set in a minimalist all-white room. The understated elegance of the visuals enhances the emotional weight of the song, creating a captivating narrative about piecing together one’s identity.
